Want to continue playing in the band? Are you new to the school and already know how to play an instrument and can’t wait to play with your new friends? This is the class for you!

Studentswill continue playing your chosen instrument in an ensemble, playing more challenging and fun music.Theycan also pick up a secondary instrument for the good of the ensemble (like bass clarinet, baritone sax, piccolo, or tuba). High School Band will furthertheirabilities in playing ensemble music.Theywill learn accurate playing techniques, dynamics, and articulations for many styles of music.Theywill learn proper practice and performance techniques both as soloist and as a member of ensembles.Theywill perform in concerts as well as other assemblies and performances throughout the year.

Student will learn to read, write, and perform augmented and diminished intervals, minor chords, and harmonic minor progressions, as well as read, write, and perform rhythmic and melodic notation in duple, triple, compound, and mixed meters. Student will sight-read music accurately and expressively (level of difficulty: 4 or 5 on a scale of 1–6). Perform on an instrument a repertoire of instrumental literature representing various genres, styles, and cultures with expression, technical accuracy, tone quality, and articulation, by oneself and in ensembles (level of difficulty: 4 or 5 on a scale of 1–6).Students will perform on an instrument in small ensembles, with one performer for each part (level of difficulty: 4 or 5 on a scale of 1–6)

Piano

This course is for Piano Majors and students who are learning other musical instruments that want to master piano skills. Students will learn different playing methods, as well as the skills and styles of various periods. Students will improve their playing skills in terms of technique, timbre, touch, and style.

Music Theory

Music theory includes progressing from basic theory, such as music reading skills, identifying intervals, chords, rhythms, solos and so on. The course also includes more -advanced materials - harmony, polyphony, musical forms, melody, orchestration, and more. The mastery of music theory is of great importance for composition, arranging, performance, and understanding of music.

Music Theory Solfeggio

Solfeggio is an important part of sight-singing and ear training. The purpose is to gradually cultivate students' musical comprehension of pitch, speed, rhythm, scales, and harmony through a series of orderly exercises, helping students to improve their pitch recognition and dictation ability. Furthermore, students will cultivate their ability regarding harmony, melody, and music memory, and to develop their “inner ear”.

Western Musical Culture

Do you want to know more about Western Music Culture? If so, this class is for you!

In this class,studentswill learn to appreciate the development of Western Music from ancient times to contemporary compositions. It will not only teachstudentsthe ancient methods found in Western Music, but it will also helpthemunderstand the relationship between Western Music and traditional European stories and literature.

Music Production

This course will allow students to develop a deeper understanding of all aspects of music production, through the analysis and study of music structure, harmony and music production practice within computer software in order to allow students to create their own music and try to become a music producer.

Chorus

In this class, students will be learning musical theory and gain the knowledge necessary for vocal music, vocal practice, chorus training and singing for performances. Students will develop their skills, improve their theoretical understanding and become better performers.
