Assessment: Group and individual projects/labs, portfolios, workbooks

Integrated Science course is a project-based course designed by Stanford University.

Every year, science will focus on 4 units, each focusing around their own integrated and authentic science concepts. Students will work productively as a team member to solve problems through hands-on projects and labs. Throughout thewholeyear, students will follow a three-dimensional learning framework, focusing on Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs), and Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs). By participating in these learning styles, students will use the tools and skills of scientists to make observations and inferences and apply learning to real-world scenarios. Workbooks and notebooks will be used to track and monitor weekly progress. Scientific thinking will be introduced through CER responses (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) and applied to class experiments and projects.

One change from G7 is that acomputer component will also be presented to further develop student skills in core applications consisting of digital documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.Studentswillalsobegin to discover how a scientist thinks.
