On Friday, April 24, from 12:10 to 13:50, the College Counseling Center, together with the School Development Department, will host the second THISDL Student Career Development Forum. The iHOSA Health & Public Welfare Future Leaders 2026 China Program successfully concluded on March 22. Centered around the theme “AI WITH HEART: CHAMPIONS OF CHANGE,” this year’s program brought together thousands of aspiring leaders in health and public welfare from hundreds of schools, along with numerous distinguished experts from the biomedical and nonprofit sectors, in Zhuhai, Guangdong.The program featured 12 specialized study tracks and a diverse range of in-person experiences, including industry innovation challenges, youth public welfare impact exhibitions, and student leadership conferences. These activities enabled students to explore their interests in life sciences and healthcare, develop relevant skills, connect with real-world industry professionals and resources, and expand their social impact, while discovering the vast potential of both the healthcare sector and their personal futures.

Last summer, the Nexellence ResearchCORE Academy, founded by Professor Michelle Yin of Northwestern University, made its highly successful debut in China at Beijing Haidian Daoxiang Lake School, receiving overwhelming positive feedback from both participants and parents. The students of the Middle School Division of THISDL achieved excellent results in the 2026 AMC 8. A total of 48 students received awards, with the number of students scoring 15 points or above reaching three times last year’s figure, and the number of students scoring 18 points or above rising to four times last year’s total. The significant growth in the high-score range reflects not only our students’ continued progress in mathematical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving, but also the effectiveness of the school’s competition curriculum, systematic training, and targeted instructional support. More and more students are demonstrating solid mathematical foundations and a strong willingness to challenge themselves through the AMC 8, a highly respected international mathematics competition.

On October 31, our school hosted an in-depth information session with University of Toronto admissions officer Johnathon and China representative Sabrina. They offered a bilingual, alumni-informed overview of the university—highlighting its top-25 global research ranking, three-campus structure, and comprehensive support for Chinese students.
On October 29, our school’s College Counseling Center hosted Mr. Harry, the Regional Representative for the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst). On October 17, THISDL welcomed a delegation from Monash University. Led by Vanessa Liu, Senior Regional Manager of Monash International Recruitment, and featuring four admissions officers from different campuses and faculties, the session provided students and parents with a rich, multi-faceted perspective on international education. From the main Australian campus to the Malaysia branch, and from medicine and law to global course structures, Monash showcased the appeal and opportunities of a top-50 world university through its academic excellence, global campus network, and flexible learning pathways.

On July 30th, the Nexellence ResearchCORE Academy — a summer intensive for aspiring young scholars — concluded its 10-day journey at THISDL. Twelve students from different regions and grade levels brought this immersive research experience to a close with remarkable academic presentations. From research design and data analysis to final presentations, these students addressed global issues with remarkable depth and confidence beyond their years.

On the evening of July 20th, THISDL welcomed an academic camp activity of extraordinary significance - the official opening of the American "Nexellence ResearchCORE Academy Young Scholars Incubation Camp". This program is proudly hosted at THISDL, building a platform for THISDL students to deeply connect with international cutting-edge educational concepts, and opening up an academic journey full of exploration and growth.

Its unparalleled location and diverse learning environment offer students exceptional academic and professional opportunities.
On the afternoon of May 27th, the College Counseling Center of THISDLwelcomed a special guest — Ms. Wan Yee, Assistant Manager of the World Bachelor in Business Program at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School. She delivered an excellent information session to our students and parents, providing detailed insights into this unique "three universities, three continents, three degrees" undergraduate program.

On May 13th, our school welcomed Professor Robin J. Lewis, former Associate Dean of Columbia University School of Public and International Affairs, for an inspiring lecture. As the founder of the Global Public Policy Network and a member of the United Nations Unitlife Advisory Board, Professor Lewis provided our students and teachers with valuable college guidance on the topic of "Talent Demands in the New Era."
On April 23, Ms. Rita FAN, head of the University of Bristol's China Office, visited our school to deliver a special lecture on the UK higher education system and detailed information about the University of Bristol. As one of the UK's top institutions, the University of Bristol ranks 54th globally and 9th in the UK according to the 2025 QS World University Rankings, making it a highly sought-after destination for many Chinese students. This lecture not only provided an in-depth analysis of the differences between British and American higher education, but also comprehensively introduced Bristol University's advantageous programs, admission requirements, and campus life, offering our students valuable first-hand information about studying abroad.
On 28 March, THISDL had the pleasure of having Professor Avi Glick, a film and television production major at the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), share with our students and parents about applying to the University of Southern California and his own story of growing up, as well as having a friendly exchange with School leaders such as Principal Cynthina Xin and Principal Holder.
Recently, our school invited Mr. Harry Zhong to deliver an in-depth presentation on the admissions and application process for the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst). Mr. Zhong is not only the admissions representative for UMass Amherst in China but also an alumnus of the university with extensive experience in studying abroad and a background in the education industry.
With the diversification of study abroad, one might ask if UK degrees are still recognised. In fact, the quality of education in the UK is still superb, with more than 160 universities across the UK offering a choice of 50,000 courses, globally recognised and rigorous academic standards, innovative teaching methods and top-notch research capabilities. Meanwhile, the study policy is friendly, with more than 480,000 international students choosing to study in the UK each year. The UK offers a Graduate Route Visa for international students, which builds a career pathway for international students.
On March 7, 2025, we had the honor of welcoming Mr. Steven Yin, Director of the Indiana University China Office, to our school for an in-person discussion with parents and students. He provided valuable insights into the latest trends in U.S. college applications.
In order to meet the diversified application requirements of our students, we were honoured to have the Vice President of Ritsumeikan University and Ritsumeikan Pacific University Shanghai Office visit our school this Monday afternoon to share their views on major settings, study environment, study costs and graduation paths, etc.

On November 12th, Mr. Nitas Syed, an admissions officer from Bard College, visited our school and held a seminar for the G11 students. This lecture was not just a simple introduction to the college, but a sharing session on educational philosophy, providing both students and parents present with a more comprehensive understanding of liberal arts colleges and liberal arts education. Mr. Nitas Syed began by emphasizing the role and characteristics of liberal arts colleges within the U.S. higher education system. He pointed out that the primary differences between liberal arts colleges and comprehensive universities lie in their educational approach and overall scale. Unlike large comprehensive universities, liberal arts colleges typically offer small class sizes, which allows teachers to give more attention to each student, thereby enhancing interaction and engagement between teachers and students.
On the afternoon of November 29th, three representative higher education institutions from California visited THISDL to deliver an engaging joint admissions seminar for students and parents. Mr. Chen from San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley introduced the consortium of three community colleges located in Silicon Valley, explaining how they offer guaranteed transfer pathways to 120 universities, including UC Berkeley and Stanford University.
On November 12th, Ms. Ma, Senior Assistant Manager at Beijing Office from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore visited THISDL to deliver an inspiring admissions seminar to nearly one hundred students and parents. NTU is a comprehensive, research-intensive university renowned for its world-class teaching and research excellence. Consistently ranked among the top universities globally, NTU holds strong positions across disciplines, with subjects such as Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence ranked among the world’s top 10. As one of Asia’s premier institutions, NTU offers students abundant interdisciplinary courses and innovative research opportunities, preparing them to tackle the challenges of a globalized future.
On December 4th, THISDL successfully hosted an joint admissions info session featuring four prestigious universities from Victoria, Australia. Deputy Principal of Middle School Mr. Peter Armstrong, orignally from Australia, offered a heart-warming welcome speech to the representatives, students and parents that came to this event and introduced the advantages of Australian higher education. And everybody was then graced by Ms. Qian Li, Director of Educational Services from the Victorian Government, along with university representatives: Ms. Zhang Yaqi from Australian Catholic University (ACU), Ms. Lizzy He from La Trobe University, Mr. Carson Ge from Monash University, and Ms. Vita Wang from Swinburne University of Technology; they came together to share their unique strengths, popular programs, and pathways to further education with students and parents, providing valuable insights for study-abroad planning. From holistic education to industry-focused practice, from global rankings to robust career support, the seminar offered a comprehensive view of the educational excellence of Victoria's top universities.
